Technical Details: You Aren’t Getting Them
But here’s the short story of how my blog, in all of its storied past, voluminous storytelling, and deep BS came to be empty again.
I am spending my summer in Brevard, NC, working at the Brevard Music Center as Assistant Dean of Students. My roommate Andy got a great job up in Indiana. Since we were both leaving at the same time it didn’t make any sense to keep the empty house and pay rent OR find a new roommate, who may or may not be trustworthy with my stuff. So, we both moved out; Andy to IN, me to a storage unit, and eventually to camp.
But fate, and Windoze Update, stepped in at the critical moment to make my blog go bye-bye. I had planned to migrate my active sites to my current host, NearlyFreeSpeech.net, before I left. But two days before I moved out, my server updated itself without my permission. That update froze the database server. When I couldn’t get it back online, I sighed and let it go.
And here we are. I live in a cabin in the woods of Brevard and am having a blast. Here’s my blog for the next few months: http://dan.playsloud.com
